Cristina miraculously is able to save the heart of a car crash victim but when the patient is revealed to be paralyzed from the waste down and dependent on a ventilator to live, Cristina is forced to ask the patient whether or not he wants to live or die. The decision forces Cristina to re-evaluate her choices regarding Owen as she imagines the path her life might go down depending on the decisions she makes. In one potential reality, Cristina and Owen throw themselves into a relationship which leads to them re-marrying, having a child and leaves Cristina struggling with the reality of losing her laser-like focus on her career. Meanwhile, in the other potential reality, Cristina and Owen continue their on-again off-again relationship which leads Cristina's career to sky rocket, but at a price. Ultimately, as Cristina's patient makes his choice between life or death, Cristina finds herself struggling with what path to take...

"Do you know who you are? Do you know what's happened to you? Do you want to live this way? All it takes is one person, one patient, one moment to change your life forever. It can change your perspective, colour your thinking. One moment that forces you to re-evaluate everything you know. Do you know who you are? Do you know what's happened to you? Do you want to live this way?"
