Taye Diggs plays Sam Bennett in Private Practice, one of the main characters and founding partners of Oceanside Wellness Center.
Biography
Diggs was born in New Jersey on January 2nd, 1971 to Marcia and Jeffries Diggs. He's the oldest of three brothers and two sisters. He earned a Bachelor's Degree of Art in musical theatre from Syracause University. His first role on Broadway was as a part of musical Carousel. Diggs married his Rent co-star Idina Menzel after 7 years of dating. They are expecting their first child, a boy.
Career
In 1996, he starred in the Tony Award-winning Rent. After that, he appeared on The Wild Party as Mr. Black. He also played a part in the revival of Chicago and played Norbert Leo Butz on Wicked, but just temporarily. He then moved to television, with his debut on Guiding Light. He later made his film debut on 1998's How Stella Got Her Groove Back. He was also featured on an America's Next Top Model episode, where he helped the models face an acting challenge. He then landed a spot on the fall spin-off of the award-winning primetime series Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice. Diggs had a guest appearance on the Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice Crossover Event.
